Before viewing the daycare video...
Please read the following information before attempting to view the video at one of our partner center's for the first time.
What are ActiveX and Java?
The first thing you will notice when you login is that there are two methods you can choose from to view the video. You can use the "ActiveX Method" or the "Java Method". In short, the ActiveX method is faster and has better quality, but the computer you are using has to meet a few requirements. The Java method on the other hand is a little lower quality video, but has very few requirements.
Which method do I use?
The first thing to do is try the activex method to see if it works. If you cannot get it to work then try the java method.
All about the ActiveX method
The activeX method requires you to download a plugin the first time you view the video. You don't have to do anything to start the download. When you get to one of the video pages that use the activex method the webpage will automatically detect whether or not you have the plugin installed. If you do not have it then the webpage will prompt you to install it. Click "Yes" when you see the prompt asking you if you "want to install and run..."
How can I make the ActiveX method work?
The first thing to know is that many businesses block the use of activex on their network. If you are in an office and cannot get the activex method to work you might start by asking someone in the I.T. department if the activex is blocked on the network. If they say that it is not then here are a few things to try.
Make sure you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 or better
Make sure the computer you are using has all of the "Windows Updates" by going to the Microsoft Windows Update website at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
Download the latest version of Microsoft DirectX from their website by clicking here.
In addition you need to check your Internet Explorer security settings to make sure that activex is allowed. Here are the steps to check your security settings:
From the toolbar at the top of Internet Explorer select
Tools then select Internet Options
Then click on the "security" tab at the top.
Next, click the "custom level" button at the bottom
Last, look at the items under the heading of ActiveX controls and plugins.
If any of the items in this list are set to Disable please change them to Prompt.
If you have done all of these things and still cannot get it to work please fell free to call us and we will have a technician go over these things with you to make sure that everything is set correctly.
